WHAT

Nebraska Child Care Tax Credit for Working Parents (Effective Immediately for 2024 Taxes)

WHEN

If you believe you are eligible, please FILE NOW. The credit is first-come, first-served with a limit of $15 million in payouts.

WHO

Eligibility:

  1. At least one child 5 years or younger on December 31, 2024
  2. Household Income must not exceed $150,000
    1. We recommend using AGI from last year’s tax return when completing online forms
  3. Must use a licensed childcare facility or approved license-exempt provider (see childcare roster)
  4. Amount is $2,000 per qualifying child if income $75,000 or less
    1. $1,000 per qualifying child if income is between $75,001 and $150,000

HOW

  1. The Child Care Refundable Tax Credit Application, Form 7203, can be filed electronically using DOR’s Electronic Document and Submission Hub (eDASH).
  2. Upon successful submission of Form 7203, the Nebraska Department of Revenue will notify taxpayers of the acceptance of their application within 10 days via email.
